Beginning on Monday, September 7th, I am embarking on a 10 day detox. Detoxification—the elimination of toxic wastes—has been used to promote health in cultures around the world for thousands of years. Many health problems may be associated with prolonged exposure to various toxic agents that our bodies may not be able to cleanse completely. During periods of detoxification, certain nutrients are in increased demand to help turn toxic substances into harmless by-products for elimination from the body. With the use of specific supplements and medical food (in my case, UltraMeal RENEW by Metagenics). Changes in seasons are a great time to do a detox. As the temperature and climate changes, you can help your body transition through detoxification.
Why I’m detoxing:
So I can start the fall in tip top shape (mentally and physically). With the summer comes ice cream and hard cider among other fun summertime things. I’m ready for more quality food and less binging.
To keep my hormones in check. It took me years to balance my hormones so I didn’t feel like a crazy person or need to eat every few hours to stay sane. Now that I feel good, I want to keep it that way.
To take a break from coffee. I like to think I’m not addicted to caffeine or coffee, but I have a tendency to have it in some capacity every day. I want to make sure I am not dependent on it.
To keep my skin clear and my mind sharp through a healthy gut. A healthy inside results in a healthy outside.
To maintain a healthy relationship with food. I don’t ever want to feel dependent on food ever again. I don’t eat when I’m sad, I don’t eat when I’m mad, I try not to celebrate with food or unwind with wine. Food is fuel and not a crutch. Detoxing reminds me of this.
This time around I’m using the 10 Day Clear Change by Metagenics, but following my own protocol (a mish mash of multiple protocols that I think work best). Through my office, Lifemark Nature Park Way, the whole kit costs $150 and includes supplements, shakes, online support (from me) and my protocol. You will need to also purchase groceries. This detox is not for everyone, but many people can benefit from it.
Why you should consider detoxing:
You have difficulty sleeping and/or are dependent on caffeine
You have a hard time focusing
You have digestive problems
Your blood sugar is all over the place or you have a tendency to feel “hangry”
Your diet is less than perfect more than 50% of the time
You feel run down, sluggish, tired, depressed
You suffer from aches and pains every day
You get sick on a regular basis (every 1-2 months)
You think you do everything right for weight loss, but your pants are still too tight
You have never detoxed
There are many ways to aid your body in detoxification. Truthfully, your body is trying to detox every single day. Sometimes it simply needs a break from all of this hard work to run optimally. I have 7 day protocols that may or may not require specific supplements, 14 day sugar detox plans and many more. Depending on the person and his or her needs, I am able to put together a plan that best fits your needs.
