Green Machine Smoothie

I rarely drink smoothies. It's only when I'm a bit dehydrated that I find myself craving one. I'm not a fan of drinking my food for a few reasons. First off, I don't find it as satisfying or satiating. In fact, it's not. Your brain responds differently to liquid calories than to those you actually have to chew and digest. I guess that's my only reason. But, I do understand if you simply need to get quick, quality calories. So, here is a recipe for you.

Ingredients

1/2 banana (Kitchen hack! Keep ripe and peeled bananas in the freezer for your smoothies.)

1/2 green apple

1/2 c spinach

1/2 c chopped celery

1/2 avocado

1/2 c coconut milk (canned)**

Throw it all in a blender and enjoy!

And if you feel the need to add protein powder in, my current fave is made in Stonewall, MB by Alex. It's called Crik.* It's a blend of cricket and and pea protein. I know that sounds weird but it's clean, minimally allergenic and tasty. Seriously. If you are into protein, give this stuff a try. My second favorite is Klean Isolate.* It's made by Douglas Labs and it contains only whey protein isolate. No fillers or sweeteners. But, only use it if you know you tolerate dairy.

*An aside about the links I post. They are not affiliated links. I'm not smart or ambitious enough to figure that kind of stuff out. They are simply links to things or places that I love. Just in case the 4 of you who read this are interested in a few things, I want you to have the resources to get there. ** Update [March 2020] I am now using Amazon affiliate links! If you purchase anything on Amazon through my website, I do receive a kickback. Thanks for trusting my resources!
